Sample acceptance criteria for Vaginal Microbiota test
Timing of Collection
- Sample must not be collected during menstruation.
- Collection should occur at least 3 days before or 3 days after the menstrual cycle for optimal results.
Pre-Collection Preparation
- No application of vaginal lotions, creams, or emollients before sample collection.
- Do not wash the genital area prior to collecting the sample.
Medication Restrictions
- Antibiotics: Systemic antibiotics must be discontinued for at least 1 month before sample collection. Local antibiotics must be stopped at least 1 week prior.
- Antifungals: Both systemic and local antifungal treatments must be discontinued for at least 1 week before sample collection.
Sample Handling
- Ensure the stabilizing liquid remains intact in the collection tube. Spillage will result in sample rejection.
Storage Conditions
- Sample must be stored at room temperature between 15°C-25°C (59°F-77°F) before and after collection.
Sample Integrity
- Samples that do not meet any of the above criteria may be subject to rejection and require recollection.
