Your mouth holds valuable insights into your overall health. Unlock them with our Advanced Oral Microbiota Test, powered by state-of-the-art sequencing technology.

The oral cavity is home to a rich and dynamic microbial ecosystem, composed of over 700 species of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. When balanced, this ecosystem plays a vital role in maintaining oral health by supporting immune defenses, regulating bioactive metabolites, preventing pathogenic overgrowth, and preserving tissue integrity.

Your oral microbiome is closely linked not only to oral conditions, but also to immune function and systemic health. Our test uses high-resolution shotgun nanopore sequencing to deliver a comprehensive analysis of all microbial communities present in your mouth — far beyond traditional bacterial-only approaches.

With this advanced profiling, you gain deep insights into your unique oral microbiome, including the detection of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and antibiotic resistance genes, helping you better understand your oral health and make informed, preventive choices.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I take the test?

You can take the test first thing in the morning.

How long does it take to get results?

Results are typically available within 4 weeks of receiving the test to our laboratories.

What do the test results mean?

Your results provide a detailed snapshot of the microorganisms present in your oral cavity, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and antibiotic resistance genes.

What should I do if my results indicate an imbalance?

If an imbalance is detected, your healthcare provider may recommend lifestyle changes, probiotics, antibiotics, or antifungal treatments depending on the specific findings.

Can I use the test to monitor my oral health over time?

Yes. The oral microbiome test can be used as a monitoring tool to track changes in your oral microbial community over time. Repeating the test allows you to compare results against your personal baseline, observe changes of your microbiome to lifestyle, oral hygiene practices, or treatments and to identify emerging imbalances early, even before symptoms.

Can the test be used to diagnose a disease?

No. This test gives information about your oral microbial profile and potential imbalances, but it does not replace medical diagnosis. The test results must be interpreted by a healthcare professional within the subject’s clinical context.

I feel healthy, should I try the oral microbiome test?

Yes. Even if you feel healthy, the oral microbiome test can provide valuable insights. Many changes in the oral microbiome occur before symptoms appear and may not be noticeable during routine dental or medical check-ups.

What sequencing technology is used by the Oral Microbiota test?

This test uses high-resolution shotgun long-read Oxford Nanopore sequencing, allowing analysis of the complete microbial DNA in your sample, going beyond the limits of traditional sequencing based on bacterial DNA only (16S technology).

Do you ship the Oral Microbiota test worldwide?

The BioArte Oral Microbiota test is currently only available for those living in the EU.
